NEW MUNICIPAL COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

April 5, 2022

Concrete: We Have placed the 8” reinforced vehicular slab where the Fire Dept. trucks will reside. This has allowed us to proceed with the final wall framing at the fire department garage. We will be continuing with the remaining concrete footings and bollards as the Spring weather allows.

Drywall/Ceilings: We will be concentrating on getting the Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. dry walled over the next few weeks. We are 100% dry walled, taped/spackled South of “C” line. Our drywall contractor is also our ceiling installer and they have been chasing the painter for ceiling grid install as the walls are primed.

Painting: Continues to follow the spackling progress in office, court/council chambers, and administration areas. We will be getting into the gymnasium area over the next few weeks to repaint the existing trusses, new ductwork and steel at the roof and attack the walls. We will also be looking to prep and start the exterior painting as weather allows.

Plumbing: Now that the shower and bathroom/turn-out rooms and decontamination shower and laundry space have been framed, the plumbing rough has been in full force over the past 2 weeks and we will be looking forward for arrival of the new fixtures, sinks, toilets, etc. over the next month. The bathrooms have all been field measured for the partitions and will be installed once manufactured.

Fire alarm rough-in and devices are ongoing. The exterior site lighting has been energized and tested. We have completed the rough for all low voltage aspects to support the building. Sprinkler: Starting to get into sprinkler head install in the grid, job wide. New Fire department connections have been installed at the exterior and hydrostatic testing of the system has commence and will continue over the next few weeks.

Flooring: The flooring contractor has completed all of the floor prep (outside of the gymnasium area) and vapor barrier for the eventual finishes, i.e. Carpet, VCT and LVT. Those finished floors will be installed more towards the last few weeks of the project to make sure they are not damaged. Ceramic tile at all of the bathrooms is 60% complete and will continue at the North end over the next few weeks.

HVAC: The HVAC contractor has started to install finished diffusers for conditioned air following the ceiling grid install. We will be installing the new RTU’s (roof top units and exhaust fans the week of April 11 which will allow final duct connections to the duct we have already installed on the interior of the building.

Glass and glazing: The new entry vestibule storefront glass and doors have been installed. Next step as we get further into the finishes of the interior will be transaction windows, door lights, bathroom mirrors, etc.

NEW MUNICIPAL COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 11-19-2021

Exterior landscaping and hardscaping have been ongoing with new curbing, lawn areas and ground cover installed. Twenty five foot Norway Spruce tree planted at south east corner of the building for the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 26th. Protective bollards and new sidewalks have been installed at the eventual new entrance to the different program areas of the space.

The ironworkers have completed the steel “skeleton” of the new addition for the Fire Department (FD) and Ambulance Corps bays at the north side. We will continue to install roof decking and exterior walls at the addition over the next weeks. In addition, the interior second floor mezzanine is installed with the structural members and decking on that is ongoing as of 11-17-2021.

The concrete footings and infills are 80% complete and will be completing in the next few weeks. Our next large concrete placement will be for the new slab at the FD bays and Ambulance Corps bays, north end.

The masons have completed the elevator shaft and brought the top of wall to finish elevation today (11-17-2021). Roofers will quickly follow to make the penetration through the roof water-tight and get ready for the new roofing.

The carpenters have been working on the second floor mezzanine area floor decking and have started framing walls at the first floor to develop the municipal office areas, the courtroom/council chambers area, the public bathroom spaces and main entries.

The plumbers are 85% complete with underground sanitary pipe installation and have started to work on domestic water distribution to the bathrooms, snack bar, FD decontamination shower and exterior wall hydrant locations.

The HVAC contractor has started to fabricate duct for conditioned air once the new rooftop mounted air-handling units (AHU’s) arrive to the site. We should have a good deal of ductwork installed for conditioned air distribution by the time they arrive.

The electricians have been working on power and lighting distribution wiring for the new space and are working on all aspects of the electrical systems to power and light the new space.

Waterproofing has commenced and is approximately 70% complete with only the west side to repair and re-caulk the existing joints between pre-cast panels.

The sprinkler contractor has had a presence on site and has relocated sprinkler lines as needed for the base construction activities and will become more involved as the project progresses.

New municipal complex update #2 -9/14/21

The work continues at our new building as the elevator pit is in as well as the cut out for the windows are complete.

Concrete work continues and in a short time we expect to have various trade groups (plumber, electrical, etc.) start their work.

It’s exciting to share the progress with you as the various components of the building start to take shape.

In July 2021, the Township began its journey of providing a municipal complex for our residents.

We will be posting pictures sharing the progress with you as we take an empty building and transform it into a civic center, Hook and Ladder Fire House, an Ambulance Corps area and municipal offices.

This page will be updated as construction moves ahead.
