Good evening everyone!!! I just want to update everyone on the latest news from the Saddle Brook Mayor's Youth Group.
First of all, I would like to thank all those who are members of this group. However, we are ALWAYS looking for new members to join our group. All students in grades 4-12 are welcomed to join. For those who are already members....I encourage you to ask your friends to join!
Today, I attended the memorial bench dedication for the Sandy Hook victims at Town Hall today. Tears were shed during the amazing dedication in a packed council chambers. I had the privilege of accepting an award in recognition of the group's hard work in working with the Girl Scout Troop 60568 in planning and holding the memorial service at the First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook in January, due to the snowstorm on December 14th. I cannot thank everyone enough who helped to make all this possible!!!! Look for the ceremony to be aired on Saddle Brook Community TV (SBC-TV) in the future on Verizon FiOS Channel 38 and Cablevision Channel 77.
The next thing I want to address is Easter. We will be helping out with the Easter Parade & Egg Hunt, which will be held on Saturday, April 19th starting at 10am at the Saddle Brook VFW Post 3484. We will need help with set-up. ALL HELPERS ARE ASKED TO ARRIVE AT THE VFW BY 8:30AM. I need to know ASAP who is helping. Feel free to call/text my cell at 201-694-3715 or message me on Facebook.
In the near future, there will be a spring business beautification. It is NOT a contest....rather, we are planting trees and other plants at participating businesses. I will provide more information in the future when it becomes available to me. In addition, we will be marching in the Saddle Brook Memorial Day Parade, which will be held on Sunday, May 25th at 1:30pm. Please contact me if you are marching with us this year.
Finally, in June, we will be having our Student Government Day and the Township Picnic. Student Government Day will be held on Thursday, June 5th (same day as the council meeting). We will learn how our local governments operate on a day-to-day basis. Also, you will all have the opportunity to run your own mock council meeting the same night at 7pm. More info to follow in the near future. We will need help with the Township Picnic, which will be held on Saturday, June 28th from 1-5pm. We will have a table to advertise our group and encourage others to join. Feel free to contact me if you are willing to help out.
That is all for this month. I will now post a monthly update about events occurring in the Mayor's Youth Group. I thank everyone for reading this message. As always, feel free to email our group at firstname.lastname@example.org. My personal email is email@example.com. In addition, you can call me at 201-694-3715 if you have any questions about anything I mentioned in this message.
