The Records Bureau is an integral part of the police department and is under the supervision of the Services Division. All documentation for the Department is processed through the Bureau. The Bureau is responsible for all records going into and out of the Department. The Records Bureau performs most of the attorney requests for discovery information for cases heard in Saddle Brook Municipal Court. This Court handles cases for the Saddle Brook Police Department and the New Jersey State Police (GS Parkway / US Rt 80). The workload generated for the Bureau is always expanding.
The Saddle Brook Police Department is in charge of the burglar alarm permit processing. All residential and commercial alarm system that elicit a police response must be registered at the police department (this does not include battery operated smoke or CO2 alarms). A permit and emergency contact listing must be completed at the beginning of each year that the alarm is in service. In addition, any changes in the system or contacts should be reported as soon as possible to the SBPD Record Bureau.

Most reports are available starting two (2) regular business days after the initial report was made. In addition, the Bureau processes applications for firearms permits, temporary handicapped permits and general inquiries.
